Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships 2020

Northcote Stud were the proud sponsors of the 5 year-old Championships at the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships 2020. This international young horse show incorporated the Official British Show Jumping Young Horse Championships & WBFSH Qualifiers and took place on the 19th to 23rd August.

It was a very successful event, in different and challenging circumstances. Social distancing and other safety guidelines were in place and everyone was respectful of the circumstances. Some heavy rain and winds brought their own difficulties, but the event produced excellent jumping and competition.

Bolesworth Managing Director, Nina Barbour says: ‘The Al Shira’aa YHC is a brilliant learning experience for young horses. This show aims to be a platform for British bred and produced horses to prepare them for the world stage.’

It’s definitely challenging for the young horses. They need to jump consistently well over two qualifying rounds to make the finals, where they face another two rounds of jumps. It’s a true test of a horse’s ability.

The winner of the NCS-sponsored 5 year-old Championships was Kaleche, a KWPN mare, ridden by Ronnie Jones. Joseph Trunkfield and Untouchable Wizzard took second place, just in front of Messarado Blue, ridden by Christopher Smith.

It’s been an exciting month for the NCS team at Bolesworth, following the NAF Five Star British Showjumping National Championships held there earlier in the month. It’s further evidence of NCS’s commitment to host and be associated with top class equestrian events.
